The Kopje Journal & Review
Cookie policy & choices
Last updated 3 October 2026
Cookies are small values stored by your browser. Similar technologies include local storage and information used by embedded players. This policy explains the controls on kopjejr.com and the services that may use them.
Your cookie choices
Choose below, or open Cookie choices in any page’s footer. Accept and reject are equally available. Scrolling, continuing to read or closing the choices panel does not give consent.
What this website uses
| Cookie or service | Purpose and control | Duration |
|---|---|---|
| KJR_PRIVACY | Remembers allow/reject, the choice time and policy version. Set only when you save a choice; no unique advertising ID. This first-party preference is necessary to honour your request. | Up to 180 days. |
| KJR_EDITOR | Secure, HttpOnly sign-in/session cookie for Publisher. Required for editorial authentication and form protection. It is not needed simply to read public audits. | Browser session, with application inactivity and maximum sign-in limits. |
| Cloudflare security | Depending on the enabled protections and challenges, Cloudflare may use cookies such as __cf_bm, cf_clearance or _cfuvid for bot detection, challenge clearance or rate limits. These are not KJR advertising choices. | Varies by cookie and configured protection; see Cloudflare’s cookie information. |
| YouTube / Google player | Optional. Blocked until you allow embedded videos. The privacy-enhanced player may use browser storage and process your IP address, device and playback information. Google’s notices explain its current technologies. | Provider-controlled; varies by player, browser and Google account. See Google’s cookie information. |
What happens when you change your mind
Select Reject optional to withdraw media consent. Loaded YouTube frames are removed from the current page, and future embeds remain blocked. Other open KJR tabs receive the change where browser support permits; older browsers recheck when you return to the tab. Reload any other open tab if a player remains active.
KJR cannot delete cookies or storage controlled by another website or recall information already sent to a provider. Use your browser’s site-data controls and the provider’s privacy settings to remove that stored information. Deleting KJR’s preference cookie returns the website to its default: optional media blocked and a new choice requested.
Your choice applies to this browser on this website, not every device or an external platform. It expires after 180 days. If you block cookie storage, JavaScript can apply your selection for the current page only and will explain that it could not remember it. Without JavaScript, this page’s form can still save the preference, but embedded videos remain unavailable; their external YouTube links still work.
External links and payment checkout
Social profiles, source links and Stripe checkout are ordinary links. KJR does not embed their social widgets or payment form. Following a link opens the provider’s service, where its own privacy and cookie controls apply. An external YouTube visit is separate from consenting to an embedded player here.
Changes and questions
New optional purposes require updated information and appropriate consent before activation. We will explain any new advertising technologies and provide the applicable controls before introducing them.
