   Name the issue, location, institution, object or cultural work directly. Avoid generic framing that could apply to any story.

2. Separate evidence levels

   Distinguish confirmed status, official position, credible reporting, reasonable inference and the publication’s own forward reading.

3. Audit the mechanism

   Examine how the policy, market, border, institution, workplace, city or cultural narrative operates.

4. Return value to the reader

   Explain what the reader can understand, compare, preserve, avoid, prepare, assess or question next.
